Rainbow Therapies
Rainbow Therapies is a Special Needs center based in Kitisuru, Nairobi that offers both full time and part time therapy-based programs for various children with special needs and additional support needs. Our adapted curriculum encompasses brain gym & edu-kinesiology, neuro-cognitive restructuring techniques, dance theatre therapy, behavior management, occupational and physical therapies, gross &fine motor skills and functional academic skills (Literacy and Numeracy.) and now starting pre-vocational and vocational skills for children above age 15. Rainbow Therapies is dedicated to providing a challenging learning environment which is child-centered and well balanced in order to develop the whole child. Our curriculum is unique and flexible to the needs of every child. It consist of core subjects: (Language, Mathematics, Science, PSHE and Geography) combined with specialist’s programs(Group OT, Dance therapy, Speech/language therapy, Handwork, Art, Sports/swimming, Gardening and Neuro-cognitive restructuring techniques). We believe in our children and we always encourage them to grow socially, intellectually and emotionally.
Learning is an adventure – a quest for knowledge. At Rainbow Therapies, we strive to guide our children on that quest, to keep them motivated and curious and give them the confidence they need to do well in school… and beyond. Above all, we help our children to be as independent as possible – it’s indeed their fundamental right. We have small classes which make it possible for every child to get ample attention and input. Each class is run by qualified teacher and an assistant depending on the level of self controlexhibited by our children. All classrooms are well structured and the PECS system has been incorporated to enhance the children’s communication skills. We develop IEPs for all children at the beginning of every school quarter with clear set targets to be achieved by the end of a given quarter. The goals are then evaluated at the end of every quarter in consultation with parents We appreciate the importance of play in the learning and development of our children. We have therefore developed a structured play schedule which ensures that every child receives intensive teacher’s attention during individual play time. Here, the teacher becomes the child’s play partner.
All our children should be able to develop the skills to achieve their personal best and to be able to take full advantage of all learning opportunities to lead them to an independent and happy future.
